Established by the SFWA in 2006 to recognize outstanding science fiction and fantasy novels that are written for the young adult market. The Arthur C. Clarke Award is the UK's premier prize for science fiction literature. The annual award is presented for the best science fiction novel of the year and selected from a shortlist of novels whose UK first edition was published in the previous calendar year. The Aurealis Awards were established in 1995 by Chimaera Publications, the publishers of Aurealis Magazine, to recognize the achievements of Australian science fiction, fantasy and horror writers. Each year, the Horror Writer's Association presents the Bram Stoker Awards for Superior Achievement. Awarded at Fantasycon, the annual British Fantasy Convention, honors are given to best novel, novella, short fiction, collection, anthology, small press, nonfiction and artist categories. The Carl Brandon Parallax Award is given to works of speculative fiction created by a person of color. The Carl Brandon Kindred Award is given to any work of speculative fiction dealing with issues of race and ethnicity. Each award comes with a $1,000 cash prize. The Chesley Awards were established in 1985 as the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artist's peer awards to recognize individual works and achievements during a given year. The Chesleys are presented annually at the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon). The Compton Crook Award is presented at Balticon each year to the year's best first novel by a single author in the field of science fiction, fantasy, or horror.
